@not in Alaska: Received an e-mail from ACS a few hours ago, while I was taking a nap.

They've confirmed that there's an issue in accessing BSG Wiki from their servers and have notified their tech support department about the issue.

@not in Alaska: Also, I've contacted ACS (a.k.a. Alaska.com) and sent them a tech support ticket. i hope to get a response in a business day or two (by Tuesday, I hope).

Sorry to hear about the trouble folks!

We're trying to figure out what's going on here... if you guys can send us results from your own ping tests, that would help out tremendously. We believe it to be something with your ISPs' domain name servers (DNS), and we'd like to verify that so we can contact your ISPs with this information.

If you're having problems with accessing the Battlestar Wiki, please contact your ISPs and file a tech support claim, so that they already know about the issue. (Since you guys pay for the ISPs, you're fully within your right to file complaints, since clearly they are having issues.)

Thanks!

Catrope, en and blog are now ping-able at my end.

It takes a while for the DNS to propagate -- up to 48 hours worldwide, depending on net conditions.

Hmm, over here in The Netherlands I'm experiencing a strange phenomenon.

When I ping www.battlestarwiki.org, I get a response in 187 ms average, which is quite a normal time for a NLUS round trip. When I go to www.battlestarwiki.org in my browser, I get an empty page.

When I ping or try to visit en.battlestarwiki.org and blog.battlestarwiki.org, I get a DNS error.

So somehow, my DNS knows www.battlestarwiki.org but not the other subdomains. Weird...

BTW, the IP I get for www.battlestarwiki.org is 74.53.78.35

The DNS has been updated. Actually, I'd already did it. lol

It's now just a matter of restoring the Mediawiki files again, running the db maintenance tools, and so forth.

I'm with Shane that we should be done by Monday.

As for Merv's encyclopedia, once we get Trac loaded we can report and keep track of any infringements that occur in any direction, as well as any other issues that may arise in the future.

For those who don't know, Trac is a ticket system, as well as a collaboration tool to better keep track of all our projects.
